Radon testing can help determine if your home has a Radon problem. The number two cause of lung cancer is Radon. The EPA estimates that one in fifteen homes in Arizona has a Radon problem. The average Radon level in Arizona is 1.6 pCi/L (picocuries per liter). When levels exceeds 4.0 pCi/L in a home or office, Radon mitigation should be done. When the level is between 2.0 and 4.0 pCi/L in a home or office, Radon mitigation is recommended, but not required.

What is Radon?
Radon is a radioactive gas. It is odorless, tasteless, and colorless. When Uranium depletes, it depletes into Radium. Finally, Radium depletes into Radon.
It can enter a home through cracks in the floor, pipe floor penetrations, etc. It tends to accumulate in the lower levels of a home.
What’s Involved in Radon Testing?
There are different types of Radon tests, some of which may need to be shipped to a lab to determine the results. Tanque Verde Home Inspections uses a Continuous Radon Monitor that provides instantaneous results after the 48 hour test period. The results are provided electronically, as a result there is no need to wait for the samples to be shipped to the lab and the lab to process the results.
